Municipal swimming pool opens
After months of tweaking and delays due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Red Oak’s Municipal Pool is open for the summer season.
Plans were to have the pool open by May 29, but a delay in staffing caused those plans to shift.
“We were able to officially open on June 4. We had a representative from the filter equipment company on site June 2 addressing some issues with the new filter system, and that was the final piece of the puzzle,” Wright said.
The pool’s planned hours of operation are from 1 to 7 p.m. weekdays, and from 1 to 5 p.m. for the weekend. In order to make those hours official, Wright said they are looking for a few more lifeguards to add to the roster.
“The staffing situation is improving but could definitely still use some additional guards. The YMCA held a life guard training course this past weekend, and we are hopeful all those enrolled pass the class,” commented Wright.
Anyone interested in serving as a lifeguard at the pool simply needs to stop by Red Oak City Hall to complete an application.
