Montgomery County drone assists Mills County law enforcement

Three people were arrested after attempting to flee law enforcement in Mills County on Thursday.

The Mills County Sheriff’s Office says 24-year-old Jessica Hale, 37-year-old Richard McIntyre and 35-year-old Brandon Woodruff, all of Omaha, Nebraska, were booked into the Mills County Jail on multiple felony charges. Halle and Woodruff also had outstanding arrest warrants out of Douglas County, Nebraska.

According to the report, at approximately 6:30 p.m. Deputies attempted to conduct a traffic stop on a Nebraska plated vehicle in the 29000 block of Highway 34. The vehicle failed to stop and attempted to flee at speeds in excess of 100 mph. In the attempt to flee, the vehicle got stuck on a minimum maintenance road. At this time, two of the three suspects fled on foot and one suspect was taken into custody at the vehicle.

Fremont County K9 Danken arrived on scene and began tracking after the other two suspects. After a brief track, K9 Danken was able to locate the female suspect, identified as the driver, hiding in a brush pile. K9 Danken, along with his handler and three back up deputies, began tracking after the second suspect and tracked the suspect for nearly two miles in below freezing temperatures. Montgomery County EMA was able to use a drone to watch the suspect run into a nearby farm building where Deputies were able to take the suspect into custody. The suspect vehicle had illegal narcotics inside and was confirmed stolen out of Omaha.

The Mills County K9 Unit, Fremont County K9 Unit, Fremont County Sheriff’s Office, Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office, Montgomery County EMA and Malvern Fire and Rescue assisted on the incident. The Mills County Sheriff’s Office would also like to send a special thank you to an anonymous Mills County resident who helped by transporting the K9 team during the search efforts.
