Maynard Dahlquist, 82
Maynard Dahlquist, 82, of Loveland, Colo., formerly of Stanton, passed away July 7, 2011, at his home in Harvest Pointe.
Maynard was born to Elmer and Mernie Lawson Dahlquist Feb. 23, 1929, in Stanton.
He graduated from Stanton High School in 1946 and married Agnes Simon March 12, 1949, in Fort Dodge.
He started a career in the automotive field as an employee of Gralnek Motor in Fort Dodge, then entered the Marine Corps in May of 1952. After completing boot training in San Diego, he was transferred to Motor Transport Supply in Barstow, Calif. He was honorably discharged in May of 1957.
Maynard returned to Fort Dodge and his sales manager position at Gralnek’s. In 1959, he began a sales career in automotive tire changing equipment and later moved to Colorado, where he was involved with the sale of office supplies and equipment.
Maynard was a member of the Elks in Fort Collins, and Zion Lutheran Church, where he served on the church council and was responsible for organizing the Lutheran Men of Song in 1998.
Maynard will be missed by his nieces, Betty Blunt, of Oelwein, Iowa, and Joan Dahlquist Brown, of Dubuque; nephews, Don Lindell, of Red Oak, and David Dahlquist, of Des Moines; and a host of friends.
Memorial contributions may be made to Lutheran Men of Song or Zion Lutheran Church.
