Marjorie Jean Schaffer, 77, of Red Oak

Marjorie Jean Schaffer, 77, died Friday, Nov. 28, 2008, at Mercy Hospital in Council Bluffs.
The daughter of Walter S. and Florence M. (Burley) Maxwell, she was born July 16, 1931 on a farm near Guss.
Jean was raised in the Guss and Villisca areas. She was united in marriage to Cecil Schaffer on June 24, 1947, in Corning. 
Jean and Cecil moved to Red Oak in l955. She worked for Murphy Memorial Hospital and Montgomery County Memorial Hospital for 41 years. 
She was preceded in death by her parents and husband; Cecil on Dec. 25, 2000.
Jean is survived by her son, Steven Schaffer of Imogene; daughter, Norma Schaffer of Omaha, Neb.; twin sister: Joan Blume of Clarinda; two brothers, Jay Maxwell of Alamosa, Colo., and Gerald Maxwell of Villisca; and other relatives.
Jean’s wishes were to be cremated and a private family interment will be held at a later date in Evergreen Cemetery in Red Oak.
A memorial is being established in Jean’s name.
