Manchester named scholar
The Red Oak Community High School is pleased to announce that Michael D. Manchester has been selected as the recipient of the Governor’s Scholar Recognition Program.
Michael is currently involved in the following activities:
National Honor Society, Fall/Spring Musical, Individual Speech, All State Choir, High School Varsity Choir, Marching Band, High School Band, Cross Country, Track, Volunteer at Grand Theatre, Volunteer at MCYMCA, Head of Faith Community Drama Department, Worship Team Leader, Provided Daycare for Single Mother’s Support Group, Counselor and Staff at Several Church Camps.
Michael Plans to attend University of Washington, Seattle and major in Neuro Biology. While attending the University of Washington, Michael plans to enroll in Air Force ROTC. Upon graduation, Michael plans to attend John Hopkins University and major in medicine.
Michael will be recognized on Sunday, April 29, at the Hy-Vee Hall in the Iowa Events Center in Des Moines. The ceremony will begin at 1 p.m. Guest Speakers at the event will be Gov. Terry Branstad and Charity Campbell, the 2012 Iowa Teacher of the Year.
