Live Healthy Iowa winning teams picked

The Live Well Montgomery County committee sponsored a local team “Live Healthy Iowa 10 Week Challenge” competition to coincide with the statewide program that took place Jan. 26`-April 3.

This year 62 teams totaling 362 participants took part in the challenge.

Teams had the choice of entering one of two categories, Weight Loss or Accumulated Activity.

Teams in the Weight Loss category “weighed” in as of Jan. 27 and tracked their weight to the end of the program.

The winning team had the highest percentage of weight loss compared to their beginning weight.

The Accumulated Activity team tracked the team member’s activity minutes through out the contest.

The winning team was chosen based on the highest number of minutes per team member for the contest period.

Overall, the teams that participated in the Weight Loss category lost a total of 576 pounds and the teams in Accumulated Activity category had over 10,565 activity hours.

In the Weight Loss category, the “Hips Clips” team lost a total of 4.79 percent of their beginning body weight.

The Accumulated Activity category winner was “Living Healthy at the Inn” team which averaged over 107 hours of activity per team member.

Each member of the winning teams received a $20.00 gift card courtesy of Red Oak HyVee and a one month free membership or $25 Y-Buck certificates from the Montgomery County Family YMCA.
