To the Editor:

Peace on earth, goodwill toward all men. Why is that only on a Christmas card? Peace is what is lacking in this world we live in. Why and how was peace taken from this earth?

Peace was taken from the earth permanently at a time when a powerful country decided they needed always to have a permanent wartime economy. A decision made by a few and kept secret from the many for twenty-five years, and made known to the many only after it was already powerful enough to control the state. A permanent wartime economy needs constant enemies to frighten the many by the few. It needs to constantly have a war going somewhere or one pending to keep the many in fear, so they will allow taxes to keep rising to fund its many weapons and secrets. It needs armies in almost every country to control those governments if they cannot be bought.

As long as man fails or refuses to accept the laws delivered to this earth by its Creator so many years ago, and to obey those laws in the political, social, economic, and diplomatic fields, men and nations will continue to reap the rewards of their rebellion and folly in wasteful, corrupt, inefficient government, in war and conquest, in bankruptcy and high taxes, in misery, sorrow and woe, and eventually in destruction and oblivion, such as has overtaken so many of the other nations, kingdoms, and civilizations of earth. Men under earthly kings and rulers will continue to be chattels instead of free men.

There can be no peace in the fullest sense for the individual until there is peace in the nation and in the world in which he dwells. But the reverse is also true. There can be no peace between nations and people until all the individuals of the nations are at peace with themselves – until there is peace from within. Peace, therefore, begins within. It cannot be imposed from without by a superior might and power or armed force. It cannot be bought with foreign aid.

Peace is a matter of spirit. The peace of nations begins with you and me – with the individual. When we can install persons with this philosopy into our own and the governments of the world then perhaps peace will be returned to this earth.

Perhaps this is why the Mayan calender ended on Dec. 21, 2012. Perhaps they didn’t think that the many could conquer the few with this miracle of rebirth for the earth. Only time will tell. Will your children and grandchildren have to live in a world of war and fear, or will they get to know peace and love? It is up to us.
