Kenneth M. Peterson, 90
Kenneth M. Peterson, 90, of Red Oak, formerly Elliott, died June 11, 2009, at the Red Oak Rehab and Care Center.
Kenneth Milton Peterson was born Feb. 13, 1919, in Stennett, the son of Emil and Otelia (Swanson) Peterson.
He was raised in the Stennett area and graduated from Stennett High School. He married Ruth Mason on Jan. 3, 1942, in Yuma, Ariz. where Kenneth was stationed with the United States Air Force.
After WWII, they returned to the Elliott area where they farmed for nearly 60 years. Kenneth was a member of the Elliott United Methodist Church, Veterans of Foreign Wars, and a 50-year member of the Masonic Lodge.
Preceding him in death were his parents; wife: Ruth Peterson; sisters: Phyllis Franklin, Helen Hoffman, and Irene Carlson; and brothers: Maurice, Vernon, and Donald.
Kenneth is survived by his children, Carolyn (Bill) Sellars of Burlington, N.C.; Sharon (Jerry) Solberg of Red Oak; Kenneth (Jan) Peterson of Elliott; Daniel Peterson of Red Oak; and Timothy Peterson of Red Oak; eight grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; sisters, Jean Kerr of Griswold; Marilyn (Jerry) Limke of Des Moines; sisters-in-law, Mary Helen Peterson of Elliott, and Eleanor Heikes of Omaha, Neb.; special companion, Maxine Chastain of Red Oak.
Memorial services will be at 10 a.m. on July 11 at the Elliott United Methodist Church with Rev. Darrin Kimpson and Rev. Terry McClain officiating. Interment of the cremated remains will be in the Gomer Cemetery at Wales. Visitation will be at the Elliott Community Building following the interment service.
