Jeanette Marie Dodson Herbert, 90, of Walnut

Jeanette M. Dodson Herbert, 90, of Walnut, formerly of Corning, died Thursday, Nov. 13, 2008, at  Cass County Memorial Hospital in Atlantic after a brief illness.
Jeanette Marie Dodson Herbert was born Jan. 23, 1918, in Montgomery County, near Emerson, the daughter of John and Emma (Whitt) Dodson. She graduated from Wales Lincoln Consolidated Schools.  
Jeanette was united in marriage to Earl Herbert on Dec. 21, 1938, in Red Oak.  They farmed near Macedonia and later in Red Oak until 1949, when they moved back to Macedonia.  
In 1958, they moved to Corning, where Jeanette lived until July of this year when she moved to the Peace Haven Retirement Home in Walnut.
Jeanette was a homemaker, a member of the American Legion, several card clubs, Over 60 Club, and Rainbow Garden Club.
Preceding her in death were her parent, husband,  Earl on June 25, 1972; sisters and brothers Gladys Stuvick, Harold Dodson, Helen Martin, Mildred Braden, Herbert Dodson, Howard Dodson, Harry Dodson, and Thomas Dodson.
Survivors include her children, Leona (Bill) Farris of West Des Moines, James (Gwen) Herbert of Corning, Patricia (Gary) Nagel of Flower Mound, Texas and Fran (Tim) Branan of Walnut; nine grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; sister, Marguerite Miller of Red Oak; many nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Memorial services were Saturday, Nov. 15, 2008, at the Calvary Baptist Church in Walnut. Rev. Aaron Hand officiated. 
A private burial ceremony was held at Emerson Cemetery prior to the memorial service.
Memorials are suggested to the Corning Public Library or the American Legion Auxiliary.
