Hunters education class to take place in March
RED OAK — The Montgomery County Conservation Board is hosting a Hunters Education Class, which will take place in March.
The class will be held at Anderson Conservation Area on Saturday, March 17 from 8 a.m.-5 p.m. and Sunday, March 18 from noon-5 p.m. Participants will need to bring a sack lunch on Saturday.
It is mandatory to attend the class on both days to receive certification.
Students must pick up a workbook from the Montgomery County Conservation office and have the workbook review questions completed prior to the class.
Anderson Conservation Area is located at 2059 190th St., northeast of Red Oak by 1.5 miles.
Hunters education is required by law in the state of Iowa for anyone born after Jan. 1, 1972, in order to obtain a hunting license.
Students must be at least 11 years old to participate in the class.
However, the certification will not be effective until the student's 12th birthday.
Adults are encouraged to participate in the class, as well. To pre-register, call the Montgomery County Conservation Board at 712-623-4753 or 712-621-2902. Class size is limited, so call as soon as possible.
