Wolverines down Griswold, 70-49

Jackson Embree and Sheldon Vandenberg combined to score 48 points for East Mills in a 70-49 victory over Griswold last Tuesday in Corner Conference boys basketball.
The Wolverines opened the game on a 16-2 run and took a 33-14 lead into halftime en route to the win.
“The quick start and great defense in the first quarter got us out ahead early,” said East Mills coach Dan Stoakes.  “Even with less than stellar perimeter shooting we were still able to keep our scoring consistent. Our rebounding was a big factor, we really crashed the offensive glass and limited second chance opportunities for them.”
The Wolverines held a 34 to 24 rebounding edge and forced 23 turnovers defensively.
Embree connected on 10-of-16 shots to score 26 points and Vandenberg poured in 22 points while grabbing 17 rebounds.
Brayden Lockwood scored 14 points off the bench to lead Griswold. Zane Johnson chipped in nine and Bode Wyman eight.

Ava Grindle added a double-double for the Wolverines with 10 points and 10 rebounds.
Amanda Houser scored nine points to lead Griswold.
