Timberwolves Put Three On All-Conference First Teams

A trio of Southwest Valley basketball players has been named to the Pride of Iowa All-Conference Basketball Teams for the 2025-26 season.
On the girls side, Timberwolves senior Hailey Randall was one of three unanimous first team selections in a vote of the league coaches, joining Nodaway Valley’s Izzy Eisbach and Mount Ayr’s Izzy Gilbertson with that status. Other Pride of Iowa first team selections were Rylie Fugate from Martensdale-St. Marys, Emma Boswell of Nodaway Valley and Dannie Stewart of Mount Ayr.
“We are thrilled that the league coaches gave recognition to our fine players this year,” said Southwest Valley coach Mike Cormack. “Hailey is my first player to achieve first team status, and it is quite an honor for her to be one of three players that all coaches in the league voted for.”
Randall led the Timberwolves in scoring (18.7 points per game) and three-pointers (45). She concludes her career with the highest scoring individual game in program history, the highest scoring season for total points in a season and the highest scoring average for points in a season.
Eisbach is the state’s leading scorer, averaging just over 32 points per game.
On the boys side, the Timberwolves’ Cael Hogan earned unanimous first team honors. Hogan was named to the first team by all league coaches along with Mount Ayr’s Jackson Ruggles, Martensdale St. Marys’ Colton Wright and Southeast Warren’s Jamison Ewing.
Southwest Valley’s Wyatt Mendenhall also earned a first team nod along with Central Decatur’s Paxon Applegate.
Hogan led Southwest Valley in scoring (17 points per game) and assists (5.1). Mendenhall put in 15.3 points per night.
Ruggles was the conference’s scoring champion with 21.6 points per game.
Southwest Valley seniors Ada Lund and Mackenzie Fast were tabbed for the second team along with Walker Bissell on the boys squad.
Lund averaged 10 points and four rebounds per game and Fast scored 11 points per game while leading the team with 7.9 rebounds per game. Bissell averaged 5.3 rebounds and 12.1 points per game.
“Ada and Mackenzie both also had fantastic seasons, both averaging double figures in scoring and like Hailey, setting individual school records, as well,” Cormack said. “Lydia really was an important player on our team who did all the little things all year long that don’t always make the statistics but help the team win. I look forward to seeing what she can do in an expanded role next season.
Lund set three individual school records with career steals, steals per game for a season and total steals for a season. Fast set the career total rebounding mark for the program.
Lydia Forsythe and Evan Fast both earned honorable mention selections for the Timberwolves.
As a team, the Timberwolves girls were 16-7 season, while setting records for offensive rebounds, steals, and overall rebounds as well as the previously mentioned record number of wins for a season.
The Southwest Valley boys went 14-2 in the conference to share the team title with Mount Ayr while finishing with an overall record of 19-4.
