Tigers’ Hietbrink wins 800 at LC meet

The Red Oak ninth and 10th grade boys raced at the Council Bluffs Lewis Central 9-10 Relays Thursday in Council Bluffs.
“We brought eight boys to the meet and they fought hard in every race,” said Red Oak coach Sueann French. “The wind was crazy and everyone did their best.”
Hayden Hietbrink had a great night for the Tigers, winning the 800-meters and finishing a close second in the 1,600-meters.
“This was a great start for our younger guys,” French said. “Coach (Carter) Bruce and I are really proud of every runner.”
The Tigers’ sprint medley relay team of Hudson Fisher, Damien Goodman, Kaleb Johnson and Hietbrink finished seventh with a time of 1:56.34.
Fisher added a 12th place finish in the 100-meters and Nate Skalburg was ninth in the 400-meters.
