Olson’s big night helps Viqueens to win

Hannah Olson scored 31 points and grabbed 16 rebounds for Stanton in a 58-26 victory over Essex Friday in Corner Conference girls basketball.
The Viqueens (9-3 overall, 5-0 in the conference) blew open a 10-7 ballgame with a 19-2 second quarter en route to the win.
Olson connected on 14-of-26 shots on her big night. Lauren Johnson  chipped in14 points and nine rebounds.
Kylie Valdez scored 10 points and Paitlyn Vanatta had eight points and 16 rebounds for Essex.

Orient-Macksburg 47,
Essex 23
Emma Boswell scored 22 points to lead Orient-Macksburg to a 47-23 win over Essex in non-conference girls basketball Thursday.
Mariska Kirchert scored nine points to lead Essex.

Shenandoah 65,
Stanton 25
Stanton had no answer for Lynnae Greene and her Shenandoah teammates in a 65-25 home loss to Fillies Thursday in Stanton.
Green hit 13-of-15 shots for a game-high 28 points, pulled down 12 rebounds and blocked three shots and grabbed three steals. Kalyn Scamman added 14 points, seven assists and seven rebounds.
The Fillies jumped out a 18-6 lead after the first quarter and extended that margin to 46-10 at halftime in the win.
The Viqueens could never find a rhthm offensively, shooting 10-of-53 from the field – 18.9 percent and getting outrebounded 45 to 26.
Hannah Olson led Stanton with 14 points and five rebounds. Lauren Johnson was limited to three points, 11 below her average, but grabbed 10 rebounds.

Stanton 53,
Bedford 40
Hannah Olson scored 23 points and Lauren Johnson 22 to lead Stanton in a 53-40 victory over Bedford in Corner Conference girls basketball last Tuesday.
Stanton jumped out to a 16-6  lead after the first quarter in the win.
Olson connected on 10-of-18 shots and added five rebounds. Johnson was 9-of-18 from the field and grabbed 13 rebounds and eight steals.  
Caroline Simmons scored 14 points and Makayla Nicholas chipped in 12 for Bedford.

Diagonal 36,
Essex 27
Ashlyn Allen scored 13 point to lead Diagonal to a 36-27 victory over Essex in non-conference girls basketball last Monday.
Candace Shirley added nine points and 14 rebounds and Halle White had seven points and 16 rebounds for The Maroons.
Essex was paced by Paityn Vanatta’s nine points and 11 rebounds.
