Griswold 1-1 at home tourney

Griswold downed Shenandoah 5-2 and dropped a 9-5 decision to Exira/EHK in the Tiger Softball Tournament Invitational Saturday.
Sadie Gohlinghorst picked up the win in game one, tossing 3 1/3 innings and allowing five hits and two earned runs. Ailey Wahlert was credited with the game two loss after giving up six hits and striking out three.
Marissa Askeland homered twice among her five hits in the two games for the Tigers.

Griswold-CAM 11,
Stanton 3

Ailey Wahlert smacked a home run and drove in two runs and picked up the win in the circle for Griswold in an 11-3 win over Stanton in Corner Conference softball Thursday.
The Tigers led 4-0 after two innings and blew the game open with a seven run third inning.
Wahlert was 2-for-3 at the plate and scattered four hits and struck out five in the five-inning victory.
Marissa Askeland added two hits and drove in four runs, and Keeley Kinney had a double and drove in three runs.
The Viqueens committed two errors and allowed eight unearned runs in the loss.
“We really didn’t play all that bad, we had just one inning where they scored eight runs and we had two or three chances to get out of it but had a couple errors,” said Stanton coach Brandie McFarland.
Kyla Hart, Kiela Franzen and Cooper Stephens each singled for Stanton.
Bree Mitchell took the loss pitching 3 2/3 innings and allowing seven hits and striking out two.

Griswold 17,
Coon Rapids-Bayard 1

A 13-run first inning propelled Griswold to a 17-1 win over Coon Rapids-Bayard in non-conference softball last Tuesday.
The Tigers recorded six hits but were helped by four Coon Rapids-Bayard fielding errors that lead to five unearned runs.
Keeley Kinney had three hits with three RBIs and Amanda Houser and Ailey Wahlert each singled and drove in runs.
Wahlert notched the victory in the circle, scattering four hits and one earned run while fanning four in four innings of work.
Anna Hart had two hits and drove in a run for Coon Rapids-Bayard.

Griswold 16,
Sidney 0

Griswold used a 13-0 second inning to pull away from Sidney in Corner Conference softball last Monday.
Courtney Follmann homered and drove in four runs and Addison Adams had two doubles and drove in three runs.
Sadie Gohlinghorst picked up the win in the circle after allowing one hit and striking out five.

BASEBALL
Griswold 16,
Hamburg 1

Griswold scored the first seven runs of the game and Cavyn Turner did not a allow a hit in a 16-1 in over Hamburg in Corner Conference baseball Friday.
Turner fanned 10, walked one and allowed one earned run in the win. Turner also went 3-for-3 at the plate and drove in three runs.
Bode Wyman and Kolbe Klindt each had two hits and Calden Turner singled and drove in two runs.
Jay Rodriguez took the loss for Hamburg, allowing 10 hits and 10 earned runs with five strikeouts.
