Grass, Hietbrink top 10 at Glenwood meet

Emmanuel Grass and Hayden Hietbrink both finished in the top 10 to lead the Red Oak boys to a sixth place finish at the Glenwood Invite last Monday at Glenwood Lake Park.
Shenandoah edged Logan-Magnolia 108 to 118 in the team standings to win the boys race. The Tigers, behind Grass’ second place finish and Hietbrink’s sixth place showing, were sixth with 155 points.
Tri-Center’s Have Weers topped the boys field with a time of 15:56.
Osiel Pedersen added a 16th place finish, Manuel DeLeon was 54th and Sidney Bell 79th to complete the Tigers’ scoring.
“Emmanuel had a super race today placing second and Hayden placing sixth,” said Red Oak coach Sueann French. “Osiel was 16th so three in the top 16. We are just looking for our  fourth and fifth man to get closer to our number three runner and I see that happening in the next three weeks. We are starting to peak at the right time with three weeks left before state qualifying.”
On the girls side, Harlan grabbed the team title by a single point over Treynor 79 to 80.
Glenwood’s Grace Berglund ran a 17:53 to win the girls race.
The Red Oak girls were 14th with a score of 318 points.
Malory Jenkins paced the Tigers with a 19th place finish. Her time of 21:48 was a new personal record.
Leya Walker was 78th, Cate Horn 87th, Gillian Heim 92nd and Neyali Pedersen 102nd to round out Red Oak’s scoring.
