Big third inning lifts Stanton past SW Valley

Stanton blew open a 5-2 game with an eight run third inning on its way to a 20-2 victory over Southwest Valley in nonconference softball last Tuesday.
The Viqueens collected 14 hits in the win. Quinn McDonald led the way with a 4-for-5 night while driving in three runs. Cooper Stephens added two hits and drove in three runs.
Lucy Dreyer surrendered two earned runs to go with three strikeouts in the four-inning, complete-game win.
Lilly Anderson and Brinkley Venteicher had three hits each for Southwest Valley.
Venteicher took the loss in the circle. The eighth grader gave up 14 hits and 12 earned runs in the loss.

Stanton takes two from Essex
Stanton scored early and often in a double-header sweep of Essex in Corner Conference softball last Monday in Essex.
The Viqueens scored the game’s first nine runs while winning game one 27-7 and in game two they jumped out to a 16-5 first inning lead on their way to a 24-8 victory.
Lucy Dreyer paced a 13-hit Stanton attack in the opener with a three hit, four RBI night. Quinn McDonald and Cooper Stephens added two hits each and Lily Ford singled to drive in three runs.
Dreyer picked up the game one win after allowing one hit and striking out three in 2 and 1/3 innings.
Ella Sandahl took the game one loss for the Trojanettes. The junior scattered 11 hits and 11 earned runs over four innings. Piper Maher led at the plate with two hits and an RBI.
In the capper, Dreyer scattered three hits and six earned runs while fanning four to earn the win.
Stephens, Dreyer and Piper French each drove in runs for Stanton.
Paityn Vanatta homered and drove in three runs to lead Essex at the plate in the second game. Mariska Kirchert was credited with the loss adfter allowing four runs in her 1/3 of an inning of work.

An eight run first inning helped Nodaway Valley to a 20-1 win over Southwest Valley in Pride of Iowa Conference softball last Monday.
Emma Boswell picked up the win in the circle and smacked a home run while driving in four runs for Nodaway Valley.
Caroline Britten drove in four runs and Mattison Thompson three runs.
Brinkley Venteicher took the loss in the circle after allowing 11 hits and 13 earned runs.
Makenna Ramsey led the Timberwolves with two hits.

STANTON, ESSEX, SOUTHWEST VALLEY BASEBALL

Stanton tops Hamburg 18-2
Stanton took advantage of three Hamburg errors and 13 walks to score 18 runs on just three hits in an 18-2 victory in Corner Conference baseball Wednesday.
A trio of Wildcat pitcher walked 13, hit three batters and gave up a pair of singles to Jayden Burke and Cooper Dreyer and a triple by Nolan Case for the Vikings.
Emmett Case picked up the win for Stanton. The eighth grader allowed two hits and two runs while striking out nine.

Stanton 0
Gavin Wetzel tossed a four-inning no hitter for Southwest Valley in a 15-0 victory over Stanton in nonconference baseball last Tuesday.
The Timberwolves scored six first inning runs on their way to the win.
Casey Jones and Brayden Truman each drove in two runs and Walker Bissell had two hits and walked twice.
Cooper Dreyer took the loss on the hill after allowing four hits and five earned runs.

Vikings sweep Trojans in Corner
Stanton swept Essex 21-0 and 22-2 in a Corner Conference baseball double-header last Monday.
The Vikings’ Owen Marsh tossed a one-hit, six strikeout gem in the four-inning game one win. Marsh also helped his own cause by driving in two runs on two hits.
Owen Shearer drove in three runs and Jayden Burke and Nolan Case added two RBIs each.
Havyn Johnson took the loss for the Trojans. The freshman scattered five hits and 10 earned runs while striking out four.
In the capper, Stanton jumped out to a 10-0 lead in the victory.
Emmett Case picked up the win after allowing one hit and striking out five in two innings of work.
Tucker Norris had two hits and drove in four runs and Cooper Dreyer drove in two runs. Marsh added two doubles and drove in three runs.
Kyler Lahmon took the loss on the mound. Lahmon allowed five hits and 10 earned runs in an inning of work.
Rhys Chambers had the Trojans lone hit.
