Helen Bourn, 81
Helen I. Bourn, 81, of Red Oak, passed away Thursday, Jan. 12, 2012, at the Red Oak Rehab and Care Center.
Helen Irene Bourn was born to James Madison and Emma Permelia (Mitchell) Bourn July 19, 1930, in rural Montgomery County. She graduated from Elliott High School in 1949.
Helen worked nine years at Thomas D. Murphy Company, then worked for Union Carbide for more than 30 years, retiring in 1991.
She was a member of the Rebekah Lodge and enjoyed embroidery, sewing, crocheting and helping others.
Preceding her in death are her parents and her brother, James Bourn.
She is survived by her sister-in-law, Mary Jo Bourn, of Red Oak; nephew, James LeRoy (Melody) Bourn, of Red Oak; nieces, Jean Bourn (Avery) Hicks, of Norman, Okla., and Jane Bourn, of Red Oak; and many other relatives and friends.
Funeral services took place Monday, Jan. 16, at the Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel with Rev. Caryn Pedersen officiating. Burial was in the Salem Cemetery in rural Montgomery County. Visitation with the family was Sunday, Jan. 15, at the Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel.
