Griswold splits doubleheader versus Tri-Center, falls to Nishnabotna

The Griswold Tigers split a baseball doubleheader against Tri-Center last week.

Griswold lost game one 10-0, but won the second game 9-1.

They completed the doubleheader last Wednesday in Griswold. It was originally scheduled to be last Monday, but rain suspended the first game.

The 10-0 loss came in five innings as Tri-Center scored two in the fifth to get the win via the mercy rule.

The Trojans jumped out to a 6-0 lead in the first inning.

Griswold was held to two hits in the first game; one by Mason Boucher and the other by Hayden Ogg.

In game two, Tri-Center scored a run in the first to take a 1-0 lead, but it didn’t last long as the Tigers tied it in the second and took the lead in the third.

Griswold scored two runs in the third and fourth innings, as well as four more in the fifth to pick up the victory.

Drake Rieber led the way by going 2-for-3 with two runs scored.

Jake Reynolds went 1-for-4 with a run scored, while Boucher was 1-for-4 with a double, a run scored and two RBIs.

James Reynolds got the win, tossing a complete game and giving up one run on three hits and striking out four.

Nishnabotna 5, Griswold 3

The Tigers scored two runs in the seventh, but it wasn’t enough as Nishnabotna won the game Thursday.

Both Reynolds’ and Jacob Dickinson got the hits in the game.

Griswold begins the postseason Tuesday when they play Exira-EHK at 5 p.m. in Avoca.
