Griswold runner named All-American

SEWARD, Neb. — A former Griswold track athlete  was able to compete at the National Indoor Track and Field meet.

James Hoffman of Concordia University in Seward, Neb., helped his 4x800-meter relay team place fourth at the NAIA Indoor Track and Field National Championships, which were held in Geneva, Ohio March 3-5.

The team finished the event with a time of 7:41.99. In the prelims, Hoffman ran a personal best 1:54.8 for his leg to help Concordia advance to the finals and break a school record in the process with a time of 7:40.55.

Hoffman, as well as his teammates Matt Trampe of Kearney, Neb., Adam Prahlow of Florrisant, Mo. and David Eads of Bellevue, Neb., received All-American honors from the NAIA as part of their efforts.

Hoffman also competed in the distance medley relay, but one of his teammates went down and they were unable to finish the race.
Concordia finished the National meet seventh with a score of 30.5 points.

Hoffman is a resident of Henderson and graduated from Griswold High School in 2009.

He is the son of Rex and Marian Hoffman of Henderson.
