Good Samaritan Society celebrating Volunteer Week

Red Oak and Villisca – Red Oak and Villisca will be joining other organizations across the country in celebrating National Volunteer Week during the week of April 15 - 21.
National Volunteer Week is set aside each year to recognize volunteers for their contributions.

The Good Samaritan Society – Villisca hosted their Appreciation Dinner on Monday, April 16 at 6 p.m., and the center in Red Oak will celebrate Tuesday, April 17, at 5:30 p.m., to honor its volunteers.  

“Our volunteers are incredibly important in helping us carry out our mission of sharing God’s love as we provide services to our residents,” Administrator Brandi Petrik says. “We appreciate their dedication, spirit and gift of time.  We are so blessed to have such caring volunteers, and this is our opportunity to properly thank them for all they do.”

National Volunteer Week began in 1974 when President Richard Nixon signed an executive order establishing an annual celebration of volunteering.

Today, the special week is sponsored by the Points of Light Institute.
