Golf Recap: Griswold finishes sixth at state

 MARSHALLTOWN — The Griswold boys’ golf team finished sixth during the state meet over the weekend.

Griswold posted a two-day team score of 663, which kept them out of the top five by six strokes.

Bishop Garrigan won the state title with a score of 604. East Buchanan took second and New London finished third.

None of the Griswold golfers placed in the top 10. James Reynolds was the top finisher as he shot a 158 (79s on both days) to finish 17th. Jake Reynolds finished tied for 19th with a score of 160.

Treighton Oakleaf was tied for 29th with a two-day total of 166. Tyler Wyman was 43rd with 179, while Jacob Lewis took 51st with 190.

Joe Schoning finished 57th with a 214.

Regional Golf

The Griswold girls’ golf team missed out on state when they finished fourth in the regional final last Tuesday.

Griswold posted a score of 448, missing out on the top two. Pleasantville (373) and River Valley (401) were the top two teams in the meet.

The top golfer was Mateya Peters, who shot a 108. Marlia Rossell was one stroke back with a 109. Hattie Dalke shot a 111, while Reagan Whitehill and Reaghan Oakleaf both shot 120s. Karley Keiser finished with a 123.
