Girls win, boys fall at Lewis Central
COUNCIL BLUFFS—The Red Oak Tigers girls’ bowling team picked up a win against Lewis Central at the Thunderbowl in Council Bluffs last Tuesday in their final bowling meet before the Winter break.
Red Oak’s girls’ won by more than 400 pins, 2,486-2,011. They won in the series total, 1,700-1,400 and in the Baker games 786-611.
Five of the six bowlers for Red Oak bowled a 300 series or better. Janesse Ranney bowled a 378 series and 190 high game to lead the Tigers.
Shelby Storesund was the next finisher with a 335 and 176 high game. Kristi Yardas bowled a 332 series, with Hilary Jackson being one pin behind in the series count.
Jackson’s 215 was the highest game total for both Red Oak and Lewis Central.
Kelsey Myers finished with a 324 series and a 68 high game. Jayden Hilding finished with a 268 series.
The boys’ team meanwhile lost to Lewis Central 3,138-2,967. Red Oak edged Lewis Cenral in the Baker games by 40 points, but the difference was in the series total, as Lewis Central won that part 2,152-1,941. Four of the six Lewis Central bowlers finished with a 400 series or better.
Taylor Mellott led Red Oak with a 437 series and a 234 high game.
David Terry was the only other Tiger bowler to finish with a 400 series, as he bowled a 408 with a high game of 214.
Curtis Hilding and A.J. Lathrop both came within 20 pins of reaching the 400 series. Hilding finished with a 396 and a 216 high game, while Lathrop finished with 382 and a 222 high game.
Hayden Berry finished with a 318 series and Zach Fenn finished with a 304.
The junior varsity boys lost their match to Lewis Central’s junior varsity team, 2,401-2,134.
The junior varsity girls won their match against Lewis Central, 1,906-1,441.
Both teams will take a break from competing because of the upcoming Winter Break. However, the Red Oak teams will get another chance at Lewis Central, when they face off at Red Oak Lanes Jan. 4.
