Friday Football: Week 1 Class 1A Preview

The football season has finally arrived. Here is a preview for all the 1A District 8 football games.

All games for this first week will be non-district.

Clarinda Academy at Southwest Valley- 7 p.m. at Timberwolf Football and Track Complex

It's the second year for the Southwest Valley football program, but their first in 11-man football.

The Timberwolves start the season playing a Clarinda Academy team that hasn't won a game in four years. Clarinda Academy's last victory came Aug. 27 when they defeated Martensdale-St. Marys 18-15. The losing skid stands at 35 for Clarinda Academy.

This will be the first time Clarinda Academy has played either Villisca or Corning since 1999. 

The other games for Friday night feature Central Decatur at Nodaway Valley, Des Moines Christian at West Central Valley, Madrid at Van Meter, Nevada at Interstate 35, Panorama at Ogden and Woodward-Granger at Martensdale-St. Marys
