Friday Football: Griswold, East Mills host big home games

Here is a preview for the Class A District 8 games taking place Friday night.

West Monona at Griswold

Griswold got back on track last week with their 23-6 win over Westwood. They're 2-1 in a very crowded District 8.

Kenneth Clary continues to lead the district in rushing yards with 793 yards. He had 199 yards in the win last week over Westwood.

West Monona meanwhile is coming off their worst loss of the season. A-H-S-T shut them out 62-0. It was the first time they were shutout this season.

Austin Reitz continues to lead the district in passing yards as he has 704.

Underwood at East Mills

East Mills looks to get back on track this week when they host Underwood. The Wolverines lost their first game of the season last week to Logan-Magnolia 16-0.

They play an Underwood team that could fall out of the playoff race. They were knocked off last week at home by Riverside.

East Mills lost last year's meeting 28-19.

Riverside at A-H-S-T

Riverside continued their turnaround last week with a 35-13 road win versus Underwood. They have a chance for three district wins in a row, but first they have to focus on A-H-S-T, the only undefeated district team.

The Bulldogs are looking for their first win over A-H-S-T since the 2010 season.

A-H-S-T is coming off of a 62-0 win in Onawa over West Monona. A-H-S-T defeated Riverside last season 21-6.

Logan-Magnolia at Westwood

Logan-Magnolia got back on track last week thanks to their 16-0 win at home over East Mills. They currently have the tiebreaker edge with the point difference average, which means they’re second in the district, ahead of Griswold and East Mills.

Westwood has lost three in a row since starting the season 2-0. A loss Friday night likely eliminates them from playoff contention.

Logan-Magnolia won last year’s meeting 49-6.
