First Good Friday Breakfast at local YMCA is a success

Eighty area residents of various faiths attended the Montgomery County Family YMCA’s Good Friday Prayer Breakfast Friday, April 6. The breakfast took place in conjunction with the Montgomery County Family YMCA Men’s Thursday Bible Study Group and the Montgomery County Ministerial Fellowship.

The breakfast was in the YMCA’s multi-purpose room. Area residents enjoyed fellowship time and a wonderful breakfast prepared by Hy-Vee kitchen, of Red Oak. Steve Colerick, of Emerson, served as the events Master of Ceremonies. Musical entertainment was provided by Tim and Terra Marsden, of Red Oak. Invocation and closing prayers were given by Rev. Jerry Kosanovich from Evangelical Covenant Church, of Stanton.

The feature speaker for the Good Friday Prayer Breakfast was Rev. Fred Pilecki from the First United Methodist Church, of Red Oak. Rev. Pilecki gave a wonderful message about Christianity that encompasses the YMCA’s mission of having Christianity in all we do as country, state, county and city. Rev. Pilecki shared the message about the day of “Good Friday.” The message was very compelling and an uplifting and great way to start off the Holy weekend leading up to Easter Sunday.
