Essex eliminated with OT loss to Nishnabotna

FARRAGUT — The Essex Trojans basketball season came to an end Feb. 13 when they lost to the Nishnabotna Blue Devils, 57-47 in overtime.

Essex had taken a 14-5 lead in the first quarter and led 26-16 at halftime. However, a fourth quarter comeback by Nishnabotna forced the game to go to overtime.

The Blue Devils outscored Essex during the fourth quarter and overtime by a score of 32-13.

In their final basketball games for Essex, both Levi Allen and Justin Moyer had double-digit points in the loss.

Allen led the way with 14 points on 6-for-18 shooting, including four rebounds and three assists.

Moyer had a double-double, scoring 10 points and grabbing 14 rebounds, as well as getting three steals.

Zach Dailey was shy of a double-double, as the sophomore scored eight points and grabbed 10 rebounds.

Jordan Jones had seven points and six rebounds, while Nick Williams scored eight points and had four assists.

Nishnabotna was led in scoring by Schuyler Brennan and Thomas Gude, who each recorded 13 points. Brennan had 10 rebounds, giving him a double-double for the night.

Joe Gude scored nine points, while Andrew Thompson recorded eight.

The Trojans finish the 2011-12 season with a 7-16 record.
