Drake and Abbuhl
Bonnie Drake and Jason Abbuhl were married Aug. 6, 2011, at St. Patrick’s Church in Iowa City. Rev. Rudolph Juarez officiated the double ring ceremony at 1 p.m.
The bride is the daughter of Ron and Sue Drake, of Red Oak. She is the granddaughter of the late Leland and Dorothy Drake, of Red Oak, and Shirley Honeyman and the late W. Lee Honeyman, of Emerson.
The groom is the son of Bernard and Martha Abbuhl, of Red Oak. He is the grandson of the late Jack and Rosie Abbuhl, of Red Oak, and A. Robert and Anna Miller, of Manson.
The maid of honor was Jamie Patrick, childhood friend of the bride. Bridesmaids were sister-in-law, Heidi Drake, sister of the groom, Arinda Abbuhl, and friends of the bride, Jill Patrick, Breely Wenck, Sydney Smith, Jaclyn Hoffman and Stephanie Peters. The personal attendant was friend of the bride, Deirdre Carlson.
The best man was brother to the groom, Jacob Abbuhl. Groomsmen were brother to the bride, Adam Drake, and friends of the groom, Rudee DeMarce, John Lunkenheimer, John Johann, Scott Turner, Kenny Newlon and Brian Hamman. Ushers were friends to the bride and groom, Ben Peterson, Erik Robinson, Steve Stark and Tim Werges.
Scampata Musica Strings provided the music.
A reception dinner and dancing took place at the Holiday Inn following the wedding.
The bride graduated from Mt. Mercy University in May 2011 with a B.S. in Nursing. She is employed at the University of Iowa Hospital on the neuroscience/neurosurgery floor.
The groom graduated from Loras College in May 2010 with a B.S. in Biology. He is currently completing his Doctorate of Physical Therapy at the University of Iowa.
After their honeymoon in Jamaica, the couple will make their home in Coralville.
