Don’t forget to vote in special election

RED OAK — Voters in seven Southwest Iowa counties will be going to the polls Tuesday to elect a new State Senator for the 48th District.
Joni Ernst (R-Red Oak) and Ruth Smith (D-Lamoni) are running for the seat, vacated by Lt. Gov.-elect Kim Reynolds.
Elected in 2010, Reynolds resigned her Senate seat days after being elected Lieutentant Governor in November.
Polls will be open from 7 a.m. - 9 p.m.
The 48th Senate District includes Montgomery, Adams, Union, Clarke, Taylor, Ringgold and Decatur counties.
Including Reynolds, who is a Republican, the Democrats currently hold a 26-24 advantage in the Iowa Senate.
