District Baseball Pairings Released
THe district tournament pairings for high school baseball were released by the Iowa High School Athletic Association Wednesday morning. Here are the district brackets for the area teams competing.
The Red Oak Tigers will be in District 15 of Class 2A and will play an opening round game July 11 at 5 p.m. in Avoca versus Clarinda.
The winner of the game will take on Treynor July 14 in Avoca at 5 p.m.
AHSTW will face Shenandoah in the other opening round game, scheduled for July 11 at 7 p.m. in Avoca, with the winner playing IKM-Manning July 14 at 7 p.m. in Avoca.
The district final will take place July 18 at 7 p.m., also in Avoca.
The District 15 winner plays the District 16 winner at substate at Denison-Schleswig July 21 at 7 p.m.
The Southwest Valley Timberwolves will compete in District 12 of Class 2A. Their opening round game will be against West Central Valley in Stuart July 11 at 7 p.m. Des Moines Christian will get the winner of the game between the two teams.
The game July 11 is part of a district doubleheader that also features Clarke taking on Panorama at 5 p.m., also in Stuart. The winner plays Interstate-35 July 14.
The semifinals and district finals will also be played in Stuart. The substate game between the District 12 champion and the one from District 11 will take place in Pella July 21 at 7 p.m.
The Stanton Vikings are the only 1A area team in this district. They will play their quarterfinal game July 14 in Lenox at 5 p.m. versus the Bedford Bulldogs.
The only opening round game will be July 11 when Clarinda Academy takes on East Union, with the winner playing Lenox July 14 at 7 p.m.
The other quarterfinal games will take place at Martensdale-St. Marys as Murray plays Lamoni at 5 p.m., while Martensdale-St. Marys takes on Mount Ayr at 7 p.m., both on July 14.
Should Stanton win, they would get the Lenox-EU/Academy winner in Lenox July 16 at 7 p.m.
The district final takes place July 18 at Martensdale-St. Marys at 7 p.m.
The winner of the District 14 bracket will play the District 13 bracket winner July 21 at Winterset.
The remaining area teams will compete in District 15 of Class 1A.
Essex will play the opening round game July 11 in Sidney when they take on Riverside. The winner plays Nishnabotna at 5 p.m. July 14 in Sidney. Fremont-Mills and Sidney will play each other later at 7 p.m.
The winners of both quarterfinal games will face off again in Sidney July 16 at 7 p.m. in the semifinals.
Griswold and East Mills will be playing in Council Bluffs July 14, but against different teams. East Mills plays first at 5 p.m. when they take on Tri-Center. Griswold will play St. Albert at 7 p.m.
The winners of both games face off in Council Bluffs July 16 at 7 p.m.
Council Bluffs will also serve as the site for the district final, which will be July 18 at 7 p.m.
The winner of the district plays the District 16 winner in Harlan at 7 p.m. July 21.
