Dean Isaacson, 71
Verner “Dean” Isaacson, 71, of Red Oak, passed away Thursday, Jan. 26, 2012, at the Montgomery County Memorial Hospital after a long illness.
Dean Isaacson was born to Verner and Ellen (Swanson) Isaacson Feb. 9, 1940, in a snowdrift near Nyman. He graduated from Essex Community High School in 1958 and attended Clarinda Community College.
Dean married his high school sweetheart, Beverly Franks, Jan. 20, 1962, in Shenandoah. They farmed in the Nyman area until 1990. Dean later retired from Eveready Battery Company after 28 years of service.
Preceding him in death were his parents; brother, James Isaacson; sister, Frances Nelson; and brother-in-law, Marty Franks.
Survivors include his wife of 50 years, Beverly Isaacson, of Red Oak; children, Christopher Isaacson, of Shenandoah, Paula (Jeff) Fastenau, of Red Oak, and Beth (Brian) Hoeft, of Stratford, S.D.; seven grandchildren, Carmen (Marcus Josephson) Cox, Meghan Cox, Chelsea Isaacson, Brandon (Jenn) Isaacson, Ian Isaacson, Isaac Hoeft, and Sophia Hoeft; great-granddaughter, Chloe Josephson; brother, Leland (Linda) Isaacson, of Murray, Neb.; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Don Nelson, of Omaha, Ron (Mae) Franks, Dave (Peg) Franks, Linda (Mike) McGargill, and Kevin (Tammy) Franks, all of Essex, and Jolene (Dave) Laumann, of Farragut; many other relatives; and a host of friends.
Mass of Christian burial took place Monday, Jan. 30, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church with Rev. Tom Kunnel, TOR celebrant. There was a private burial in Evergreen Cemetery. Recitation of the Rosary was Sunday, Jan. 29, at the Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel and visitation with the family followed.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the Red Oak Public Library or the Red Oak Fire and Rescue. Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
