David Ralph Query, 57, of Red Oak, formerly of Cumberland, died Wednesday, Nov. 12, 2008, at Red Oak Rehab and Care Center after an extended illness.
David was born April 29, 1951, in Greenfield, the son of Lawrence and Leola (Burmeister) Query.
He graduated from Cumberland-Massena High School in 1969 and was trained as a carpenter at Southwestern Community College.
He worked several odd jobs until he was drafted into the U.S. Army, serving during the Vietnam War.
He returned from service and was united in marriage to Jan Lovig in 1975.
To this union daughter Christel was born.
David moved to Basin, Wyo., where he did carpentry work until going to work for Frontier Airlines.
Over the years he lived in many different place including North Platte, Neb.; Madison, Wis.; Salt Lake City, Utah; and Las Vegas, Nev.
David eventually moved back to southwest Iowa and to Red Oak about nine years ago. He enjoyed playing video poker, music, concerts, hunting, fishing, and was an avid sportsman and athlete.
Preceding him in death were his parents; sister, JoAnn Cannon; and brother, Duane Query.
Survivors include his daughter, Christel (Eric) Nelson of Red Oak; sister, Donna (Phil) Casey of Corning; sister-in-law, Annie Query of Basin, Wyo.; one grandson; several nieces and nephews and many other relatives.
Funeral services were Saturday, Nov. 15, 2008, at Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel. Pastor Brett White officiated.
Burial was in Evergreen Cemetery.
A memorial fund is being established in David’s name.
