Cross Country camp planned for July 23-24

The Montgomery County Family YMCA and the City of Red Oak Park and Tree Board are sponsoring the 2009 Tiger Cross Country Camp taking place July 23 - 25. This camp is open to boys and girls ages 12 - 18 (or middle school and high school age.) All workouts will start and finish at the Montgomery County Family YMCA.

The camp schedule is as follows:

Thursday, July 23, and Friday, July 24, will have both a 7 a.m. and 6 p.m. workout session. Following each workout, food will be available. The evening sessions will also feature a guest speaker. Saturday morning will feature an Alumni/Athlete 5K road race, followed by a breakfast potluck.

Marc Bierbaum, current Dana College Head Cross Country and Track coach, will be the Friday evening guest speaker and also attend the Saturday activities. Coach Bierbaum graduated from Griswold HS in 1997 where he ran cross country and track for four years. He graduated from Dana College in 2001 where he qualified for NAIA nationals once in cross country and twice in track (marathon). Prior to coaching at Dana, he coached at Omaha Westside HS for four and a half years where he helped 50 athletes in cross country and track qualify for state.
