Crime wave? Several arrested for small crimes over weekend
RED OAK — Three individuals were arrested following public arguments, including one at the Montgomery County Memorial Hospital while four teenagers were taken into custody during a busy weekend for local law enforcement.
Saturday afternoon, police responded to separate public disputes that resulted in arrests.
Timothy Stewart, 24, and Megan Binns, 25, were both arrested at the Montgomery County Memorial Hospital following an incident Saturday at 2:19 p.m.
According to hospital staff, Stewart and Binns became involved in a loud and offensive verbal altercation, during which a cup of soda was thrown onto the walls, carpet and door.
“The altercation disturbed not only the hospital staff, but also other patients,” the police report states.
Both Binns and Stewart, who live together in Red Oak, were arrested on misdemeanor charges of breach of peace, and released on $300 bonds.
About an hour later, at 3:12 p.m., police arrested Keith Maynes, 58, on a breach of peace charge.
Maynes is accused of inciting a verbal altercation with an employee at McDonalds. He too was released after posting a $300 bond.
Friday night, a Red Oak teenager allegedly ran over several mailboxes with his car.
Jacob Wetterlind, 18, was arrested Saturday morning after he admitted to police he ran them over with his 2001 Buick Park Avenue.
The mailboxes were located in the 1500 block of N. Eastern Avenue. After an investigation, officers were able to determine Wetterlind’s vehicle was used in the crime.
Wetterlind was arrested on a charge of criminal mischief in the second degree and is IN custody at the Montgomery County jail on a $5,000 bond.
Also Friday night, three teenagers were arrested on charges of minor in possession after police discovered beer at a party in town.
Red Oak police officers responded to 402 Towel St. in Red Oak after receiving information that minors were consuming alcohol at that residence.
Two Red Oak residents, a 14-year-old girl and a 16-year-old boy, and a 15-year-old Elliott girl, were issued citations for minor in possession of alcohol. After processing, they were released to their parents.
Officers made additional arrests for assault and probation violation over the weekend in addition to responding to two car accidents. In formation on those incidents can be found on P. 3A and P. 13A of today’s Express.
