Congrats to Soil & Water Conservation

 Dear Editor:

I would like to extend my heartiest congratulations to the Montgomery Soil & Water Conservation District, commissioners and staff on their 75th anniversary. Their service to Montgomery County, dedication to conservation, cooperation with conservation partners and commitment to the producers of Montgomery County is unsurpassed. With the interest and dedication of many past conservationists, it’s no wonder why Montgomery County was the first whole-county conservation district to be formed in the state!

Organizations like the Montgomery SWCD which contribute so much to local communities, sometimes go about their work of getting things done, and go unnoticed.  I’m glad to see them celebrating their 75th anniversary and getting the word out about the great accomplishments of the district and the importance of conservation to all of us. It was my privilege to work with this organization for over 26 years and be a small part of their success.

With their services, the community has gained a lot.  Once again, my sincerest congratulations. Keep up the great work.

P.S Please take the time to read the District’s Annual Report (75 Years) in last week’s Red Oak Express.  Information for several interviews with past conservationists, which was compiled by Dan Case and Corrine Jenkins and written by Dan Case, tells a lot about the conservation history of Montgomery County. They include many great memories of people who were actually involved in creating the history of the Montgomery SWCD.
