Clark-Moffett receives Volunteer Service Award
Savanna Clark-Moffett, 11, of Stanton, has been honored for exemplary volunteer service with a President’s Volunteer Service Award.
The award, which recognizes Americans of all ages who have volunteered significant amounts of time to serve their communities and country, was presented by the Prudential Spirit of Community Awards program on behalf of President Barack Obama. Clark-Moffett participated in the Spirit of Community program this year as a representative of Stanton Elementary School where she is a student.
Clark-Moffett earned her award by planting and watering flowers fowntown, helping with the Afterschool Bible Club and volunteering at Carpenter Daycare. In her essay, Clark-Moffett said, “I learned from my mom and grandparents it’s important to give back to your community.”

More than 345,000 young people across America have been considered for these awards since the program began in 1995.
