Change your life by cultivating good health
Dear Editor:
There is a reoccurring theme which I have been surrounded by – and that is the need to cultivate good health. I use the word cultivate, because health is acquired by the development of persistent routines used to promote a status of well-being, free from mental and physical injury and illness.
It is actually quite simple what needs to be done, but unfortunately we have become very distracted by modern conveniences, technologies … and even a degradation of culture and society.
How much time do we allocate to meditation? And don’t let preconceived notions of meditation be off-putting. I’m not talking about quitting your job, traveling to India, and becoming a yogi to reach “enlightenment.” What I mean is, how often do you sit through a moment of self-reflection and introspection; how often do you reflect upon your thoughts, ambitions, needs, and desires?
How often do you journal and/or process through a personal dialogue; to map and weave between the complications in your life? How often do you appreciate the relationships and the little things which we start to take for granted?
I declare we need to cut through our personal static and work on bringing our lives back into balance – to focus on easing the cries of our subconscious mind, and like any good mother would, nourish our beginnings. Let us start anew; let us pursue good health – because good health is the greatest of God’s gifts. “Gnōthi seauton.”
