Chamber deliberates on filling development post

Discussions are still underway on what direction the Red Oak Chamber and Industry Association will take following the resignation of Paul Griffen as the ROCIA’s economic development director.
Griffen resigned from the ROCIA on Nov. 8 after three years. Previosuly, he was the ROCIA’s executive director. At a recent meeting between the ROCIA Board and the contact committee, Board President Tim Werges said it was decided to explore various directions.
“We want some potential options moving forward of what the position would be, and what it would be housed under,” Werges said.
A smaller group of ROCIA representatives will meet this week to discuss the possible options in a brainstorming session.
“We’re hoping as a result of that meeting, we will be able to firm up some potential alternatives,” commented Werges.
Despite the outcome of the meeting, Werges said they won’t be locked into any decisions.
“We certainly won’t be bound to changing what we have in place right now. But it’s a good time to take a look at what we’re doing and see if it’s the right fit, or whether or not there’s a better way we could be doing it,” said Werges.
