Blackman elected to ROHS Hall of Fame

RED OAK — Former Red Oak Coach and Vice-Principal Ken Blackman is the 2011 inductee into the Red Oak High School Hall of Fame.

Blackman worked at Red Oak High School from 1976 to 2008. He was a teacher, coach, activities director and vice-principal during his time there.

During his time as activities director, the high school was able to make improvements to the track, baseball and softball fields, weight room, gymnasium, tennis courts, wrestling facilities and press boxes.

Blackman, a Malvern High School graduate, received a Bachelor of Arts from Tarkio College and a Masters Degree in secondary school administration and supervision from Northwest Missouri State University.

Other roles Blackman had included being president of the Southwest Iowa Athletic Directors Association, as well as an executive board member for the Iowa High School Athletic Directors Association (IHSADA). He is in the IHSADA Hall of Fame and received a IHSAA Administrative Award.

Blackman will be a guest speaker at the Homecoming Pep Rally, an honoree in the parade and will be honored at halftime when he receives a plaque during the homecoming game against Glenwood.
