Beer garden is not what a fair’s about
In reading the article in last Tuesday’s Red Oak Express on the Montgomery County Fair, it was quoted that he (Fairboard President Kerry Confer) had not heard of anyone complaining about the beer garden, so I thought it my duty to state my feelings.
When I first saw it in the fair schedule, I thought what a terrible example for young people, to promote a beer garden at our own county fair, when the fair should be a special event for our young people and everyone to promote the good things in our town and communities. There is enough of that kind of entertainment without promoting it. I hope other fairs will not follow our example.
I know it would not be an easy job to plan for the fair and I appreciate all the work everyone does to make Red Oak better. I love Red Oak. Some of my ancestors were some of the first settlers here, and I am glad I have been able to make it my home town all my adult years.
