Augsburg Concert Band

Hop on the bandwagon with the world-famous Augsburg Concert Band from the Twin Cities when it performs at Faith Lutheran Church, 10395 University Avenue in Clive, on the western side of the Des Moines, Iowa area, at 7 p.m. on March 12. The program will include works Malagueňa as arranged by Sammy Nestico, Hymn for the Lost and the Living by Erica Ewazen and All Creatures of Our God and King by Gary Gackstatter. A free-will offering will be taken. The sixty-member symphonic band is led by Robert Stacke, a 1971 graduate of Augsburg College. The ensemble has performed extensively throughout the United States, and has traveled to Ireland, Iceland, Norway, Canada and Romania. To get to Faith Lutheran Church, exit Interstate-235 at Valley West Drive in the Des Moines area. Go north to University Avenue and then west beyond the K-Mart discount store. Faith Lutheran Church is on the north side of University Avenue. Parking is available at Faith Lutheran Church and at K-Mart. This performance is part of the 20th season for Soli Deo Musica, the fine arts program at Faith Lutheran Church. Other events this year include a barn dance at Living History Farms in Urbandale, a Christian rock concert which brought in a large number of food items for the Des Moines Area Religious Council’s food pantry and a forthcoming performance of the Des Moines Vocal Arts Ensemble.
