Assault weapons serve no role in today’s society

As a parent and a former teacher, this latest incident has just about broken my heart. Why do I call it an incident, because repeatedly our children are being killed in our schools by mentally deranged young men with weapons that should not be sold in the first place.  

The NRA and their stooges will continue to keep weapons that have no place in today’s society legal. When a person goes hunting, their are limits on how many shells can be legally used in the weapon; don’t want to kill too many ducks or pheasants. But weapons used to kill our children have no limits placed on their shell capacity. I guess that must mean that our children are of less value then animals.

Republicans will tell you that the Democrats want to take away their guns. They say that we need them to protect us from our government. They say that the Second Amendment is more important then our young people’s lives.We can’t make any gun laws because of the “slippery slope” which would in the end, do away with the Second Amendment. It is to bad we have to compete with the NRA and their powerful lobbyists.

Changing the law is about impossible. Gun clips that hold more shells then can be be legally used to hunt with can only be used for target practice. And crazy people with these guns are not shooting tin cans, they are shooting our children. It is to bad we can’t do anything about it.
