Alvina M. VanAntwerp, 88

Alvina M. VanAntwerp, 88, of Cambridge, Minn., died on Feb. 7, 2009 at GracePointe Crossing West. Alvina was born Aug. 12, 1920, to Henry and Susannah Berg in Marion, S.D., where she also grew up. She was a graduate of Marion H.S., and later went on to Moody Bible Institute where she studied Bible and Music. When Alvina married Bill on Dec. 27, 1950, they began their ministry together where they pastored churches in Pelican Rapids, Minn., Lake Norden, S.D., Emerson, Princeton and Waconia, Minn., Richmond, Calif., and, after retirement, nine interim churches. Even in her last years, Alvina loved to give musical concerts to various groups and churches. She is survived by her daughter Kathy (Bob) Helvey of Little Rock, Ark., son Steve (Mary) VanAntwerp of Hudson, Wis., six grandchildren, one great-granddaughter, and brother Walt (Loretta) Berg of Oklahoma City, Okla. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Feb. 11, at First Baptist Church in Cambridge with Rev. Paul Lundgren officiating.
