ACCIDENTS

  • On Aug. 31, at about 5:41 p.m., Lyndon Bright, 16, Red Oak, driving a 2006 Ford Taurus, was traveling west on East Maple Street when his vehicle entered the intersection and was struck by a 1994 Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme driven by Carol Watt, 79, Red Oak, which was traveling south on North 2nd Street. A 14-year-old female passenger in Bright’s vehicle was later taken to the emergency room by her mother for back pain, later determined to be back spasms. Damage to Bright’s vehicle was about $2,500 and damage to Watt’s vehicle was estimated at $1,000. No citations were issued.
  • On Sept. 5, at about 2:14 p.m., Montgomery County Sheriff’s deputies investigated a single-vehicle accident on E Avenue just north of 150th St., Sharon Huddleson, 67, Stuart, driving a 2003 Oldsmobile Silhouette, was traveling north on E Avenue when she lost control on loose gravel, entered the west ditch, went through a fence and stopped in a corn field. Damage to the vehicle was about $2,300.
