ACCIDENTS

  • On May 6, at about 11:40 a.m., Red Oak Police officers investigated a two-vehicle accident at the intersection of 2nd and Corning Streets. Ronald Hart, 80, Stanton, driving a 2014 Chevrolet Impala, was traveling south on 2nd Street and stopped at the stop sign. He then proceeded through the intersection and struck a 1997 Pontiac Trans Sport driven by Charles Richards, 68, Red Oak, which was traveling east on Corning Street. Both vehicles had about $2,000 damage. Hart was cited for failure to obey stop sign.
  • On May 9, at about 4:45 p.m., the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a 4-wheeler accident that happened in the woods north of the 1600 block of 270th Street. Two juvenile females, riding a 1998 Yamaha 350 Bear Tracker, slid in the mud and struck a tree. Neither rider was wearing a helmet, and both were injured. The driver was taken by Life Net to University of Nebraska Medical Center, and the passenger was taken to Montgomery County Memorial hospital by private vehicle. The Sheriff’s Office was assisted by Red Oak Rescue and Red Oak Police Department, and the investigation is ongoing.
