Accidents

  • On April 21, at 12:21 p.m., a 2008 Chevy Silverado, driven by Jefferey Hawkins, 46, Independence, Mo., and a 2000 Ford F-260, driven by Sarah Anderson, 40, Hastings, were stopped facing south at the intersection of North Broadway and West Cherry Street. Anderson had a leg spasm and stepped on the gas pedal, striking Hawkins’ vehicle. Anderson had $6,000 damage to her vehicle; Hawkins had $2,500. Anderson hit her lip on the steering wheel and Red Oak Rescue was called to the scene, but Anderson refused treatment.
  • On April 22, at 9:43 a.m., Cathy Swanson, 67, Red Oak, driving a 2010 Chrysler Town and Country, was traveling south in the 700 block of North 2nd Street when she struck a parked 1995 Ford Crown Victoria. Estimated damage to the Town and Country is $2,950. Damage to the Crown Victoria is estimated at $800. There were no injuries.
  • On April 23, at 10:55 a.m., a 1994 Chevy K1500, driven by Shannon Biggerstaff, 20, Red Oak, was stopped in front of a 2014 Ford Escape, driven by Russell Brink, 81, Farragut, at the intersection of Broadway and Oak Street facing south in the turning lane. An eastbound semi made a northbound turn. Biggerstaff reversed her vehicle to avoid collision with the semi and backed into Brink. Due to the hitch on her vehicle, Biggerstaff did not sustain any damage. Brink’s vehicle had $2,000 damage.
