2015 Regional Girls Basketball brackets released

The Iowa Girls High School Athletic Union released the regional brackets for Class 1A, 2A and 3A Monday afternoon. Go to IGHSAU.org to see all the brackets. Here's a look at the regional brackets for all the area teams.

Class 3A

The Red Oak Tigers will be in Region 8 of Class 3A. They're the third seed in the 8-team field. Red Oak will face Clarke (Osceola) in the regional quarterfinals at Red Oak High School.

The other quarterfinal match-ups include Shenandoah versus Clarinda, Kuemper Catholic versus Atlantic and West Central Valley versus Greene County.

Red Oak/Clarke and Shenandoah/Clarinda will be the bottom half of the bracket, while Kuemper/Atlantic and WCV/Greene County are in the top half.

The quarterfinal games will take place Feb. 14, with all start times being at 7 p.m.

The winners of Red Oak/Clarke and Shenandoah/Clarinda will face off Feb. 18 at Shenandoah High School. The winners of the other quarterfinal games will face off in Carroll Feb. 18. Both semifinal start times are set for 7 p.m.

The regional final will take place Feb. 21 at Harlan High School with a 5 p.m. tip-off time.

Red Oak reached the regional final last season, but lost to eventual state champion MOC-Floyd Valley.

Class 2A

Southwest Valley will be playing in Class 2A of Region 8 of the regional tournament. The Timberwolves will be playing in one of four first round games Feb. 14.

Southwest Valley will host Earlham in the first round of the 2A regional tournament at 7 p.m.

The other first round games that night feature Nodaway Valley versus Clarinda Academy, Tri-Center against AHSTW and Underwood versus Riverside.

Four teams have first round byes, including IKM-Manning, Treynor, Central Decatur and Interstate-35.

The winner of Southwest Valley will play Central Decatur Feb. 17 in Leon.

The semifinals will take place Feb. 20 at Manning and Leon and the regional final will be Feb. 23 at West Central Valley High School in Stuart.

Class 1A

The Griswold girls basketball team will be playing in Region 2 of Class 1A. Their first round game will be against Coon Rapids-Bayard, which will be one of six first round games taking place Feb. 12. The game will be at 7 p.m. in Coon Rapids-Bayard.

The other first round games feature Glidden-Ralston versus Guthrie Center, CAM against Paton-Churdan, Harris-Lake Park versus Clay Central-Everly, Marcus-Meriden-Cleghorn against St Marys-Storm Lake and River Valley against Ar-We-Va.

Exira-EHK and George-Little Rock both have first round byes. The winner of Griswold and Coon Rapids-Bayard will play Exira-EHK Feb. 17 in Exira. The semifinals take place in Exira and George Feb. 20 

The regional final will be Feb. 23 in Ida Grove.

The remaining area teams, Stanton, Essex and East Mills, will be with the rest of the Corner Conference as they all compete in Region 8.

Stanton will be in the bottom half of the bracket, while Essex and East Mills take the top half.

Fremont-Mills and Adair-Casey have the only first round byes in the Region 8 bracket.

The Viqueens start their tournament run Feb. 12 when they host Lenox at 7 p.m. The winner of Stanton/Lenox face Adair-Casey Feb. 17 in the quarterfinals in Adair.

Essex will host South Page at Essex High School, while East Mills takes on Nishnabotna in Farragut. Both games take place Feb. 12. The winners of both games will face off Feb. 17 at Essex High School.

The other first round games feature Sidney against Heartland Christian, Orient-Macksburg against East Union and Iowa Christian versus Ankeny Christian.

The semifinals will be Feb. 20 in Tabor and Adair and the regional final will be Feb. 23 in Red Oak.
