2 perish in single vehicle accident

Around 3:10 p.m. on Sept. 24, deputies with the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office responded to the scene of a single vehicle, two person fatality accident approximately one ½ mile west of A Avenue in Montgomery County on 200th Street.

Upon arrival, deputies found a vehicle fully engulfed in flames in the north ditch. Once the flames had been extinguished, it was discovered there were two deceased individuals in the vehicle. Deputies determined the vehicle was traveling westbound and left the roadway into the north ditch, striking trees.

The two deceased individuals have been transported to the State Medical Examiner in Ankeny for positive identification.

The Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office was assisted at the scene by the Mills County Sheriff’s Office, Montgomery County Emergency Management, Red Oak Fire and Rescue and Emerson Fire and Rescue.

As of press time Monday, Sept. 28, no further information had been released, including the names of the victims.
