2 K.C. men charged with Chat Mobility thefts

Two Kansas City, Mo., men have been indicted by a federal grand jury for their roles in a  $1 million conspiracy to steal more than 1,400 cell phones across five states in dozens of commercial burglaries, including a few local Chat Mobility stores, including Red Oak’s. Viktor Chernetskiy, 29, a naturalized citizen from the Ukraine and Bryan Kirkendoll II, 29, were charged in a five-count indictment returned by a federal grand jury in Kansas City, Mo., June 26. The indictment alleges the two men particpated in a conspiracy to steal electronic devices, primarily cell phones, from stores in Iowa, Missouri, Illinois, Oklahoma and Kansas. Forty-eight burglaries took place from Nov. 21, 2018 through June 14, 2019, with approximatly 1,401 electronic devices stolen with a  value of roughly $1,008,742.
The Red Oak Chat Mobility location at 909 E. Senate was burglarized March 26 by prying open an exterior door, as well as the Chat Mobility stores in Emerson and Clarinda.
In addition to conspiracy, Chernetskiy and Kirkendoll are charged with three counts of transporting stolen property across state lines and Chernetskiy is charged in a fourth count of transporting stolen property across state lines.
The charges in the indictment are accusations and not evidence of guilt.
