1A Boys Basketball Districts set
DES MOINES — The Iowa High School Athletic Association (IHSAA) released their 1A and 2A boys' basketball brackets Monday afternoon.
Stanton, South Page and Villisca's basketball teams have been split off from the rest of the Corner Conference. The Vikings and Blue Jays will play in District 16 (Substate 8).
Stanton will be in a play-in game against South Page at home, Feb. 13. The winner of that game will play Exira-EHK Feb. 16 in Exira, in the quarterfinals. All the quarterfinal games will take place Feb. 16 at 7 p.m.
The other play-in game that will take place Feb. 13 will be Bedford against Lenox at Lenox. The winner will play CAM in Anita.
Villisca has their quarterfinal game set, as they take on the Corning Red Raiders in Corning.
Griswold will also have a quarterfinal game when they play Adair-Casey in Adair.
The semifinals will take place Feb. 21, but the sites have yet to be determined. The District Final will take place in Clarinda Feb. 23.
Whoever wins the District 16 bracket will play the winner from District 15, to determine the substate winner. That game will take place Feb. 25 at Southwestern Community College in Creston.
District 1
The rest of the Corner Conference teams will be competing in District 1.
Essex will face off against Nishnabotna in a play-in game Feb. 13 in Farragut. The winner of that game will play Treynor in the quarterfinals.
The other play-in game will feature Heartland Christian and St. Albert. Winner will play Riverside in Oakland.
The other quarterfinal games are East Mills against Walnut in Malvern, and Fremont-Mills against Sidney.
Quarterfinal games will take place Feb. 16. The semifinal games will be Feb. 21, while the district final takes place in Neola on Feb. 23. District 1 champion will face District 2 champion in the Substate 1 game Feb. 25 at Abraham Lincoln High School in Council Bluffs.
